Southern California Nationals Famoso Raceway Bakersfield, California May 14th and 15th, 2005
The FBM Team finishes off our west coast circuit in a big way by taking the win in Bakersfield, California. Winning 2 out of 3 races in the west makes up for all the long hard driving and flying back and forth across the country.    Once again we pulled the bike out of the trailer and made one of the best times for any class over the weekend. The 6.84 ET at 195 MPH gave us an un-challenged number 1 qualifier that would have given us a 2nd place spot in Top Fuel.    As the weekend progressed, the track conditions got worse. Our tire started slipping and the air was going away fast. A bearing had gone bad in the second round of qualifying and we stripped all the teeth from our rear chain sprocket.    On race day, a bye round gave us chance to experiment and do some needed tuning to the bike. In the finals we faced off against Record Holding Mike Lehman once again. Mike is an excellent rider and tough competitor. Chris managed to get him off the line with a .045 reaction time to Mike's .156 and kept the throttle open never giving Mike the chance to catch up.
We were once again surrounded by family and friends at the track. Chris and Matt's cousin Suzie got to help the team by holding our sun umbrella giving us some badly needed shade in the staging lanes.    Al's son Shawn came up for the race and stayed with us in the pits. The crew came over to chat with us and decided Chris Streeter was "crazy!" for riding a Nitro Powered Bike.
