Thunder in the Valley Nationals Famoso Raceway Bristol, Tennessee August 13th and 14th, 2005

It was a beautiful weekend for Racing in the mountains of Tennessee. The air was good and the track was well prepped.    Our friend Top Fuel Racer Tracy Kile was burning up the track on a good strong pass when his motor blew at about the 600 foot mark. A piece of his cylinder came over the wall and struck a spectator in the face and chest. He was quickly attended to without any major damage. Later, Bill Furr was out on his brand new Drag Racer when he had a problem and the bike caught fire. The fire crew responce was less than effective and his new bike was soon engulfed in flames.    In the eliminations, Chris managed to beat out Mike Lehman in the first round moving ahead on the points race for the national championship. We were no match to Jay Turner in the finals who has been blowing away the competition with a tune up that has been getting him down the track at over 200MPH consistently.
