Lonestar Nitro Nationals Texas Motorplex Raceway Dallas, Texas April 23rd and 24th, 2005
Trying to get to the track turned out to be a challenge as the weather had delayed flights for Chris, Alan, and Jeff. The bus and trailer had been parked at our friends' Dawn and Randy's house after the Phoenix race.    Our bike did not make the first round of qualification because of a bad ignition switch. As it turns out, the wind conditions were blowing racers all over the track. When Steve Stordeur clipped the wall the race was reduced to an 1/8 mile venue.    FBM has always performed well in the 1/8 mile. On our second qualifying attempt Chris blasted down the track taking number 1 qualifier once again. His 4.37 ET at 174 MHP was almost 2/10ths faster than the closest competitor.
Unfortunately, in the semi finals, our winning steak came to an end. Race day the track was returned to a 1/4 mile event. We had a new tire which was giving us some trouble. When the tire broke loose down the track the bike started moving toward the center. Chris let off the throttle to keep from crossing center. This was just the opportunity Mike Bahnmeier needed and just got ahead of Chris at the finish line.    Merryl and Sera made the trip to Dallas from San Antonio to watch us race. Along with the Grantom family we had a great crowd of fans cheering us on. It is always nice to have the support of family and friends at the track. Once again Dawn prepared a delicious meal for us on Saturday. After a long hard day in the pits it was a nice break.    One of the keys to being a winner is to surround yourself with good people. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by some of the best family and friends anywhere. We take pride in your support and try to perform well for you, our fans, friends, and family.
