Gusty Winds Get Chris Dubbed
|
Las Vegas Winners' Circle |
FBM Racing drove 45 hours to make our second West Coast appearance of the season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway,
and we made sure it counted. Chris Streeter took number two qualifier, ran both the fastest and second fastest Pro Fuel ET and MPH of
the weekend, and won the race to take the lead in the Pro Fuel National Championship competition. That sure made the long drive back
to Cleveland more fun!
Special thanks this race goes to Alan Slavin and Matt Silva of Vanson Leathers. With all the wind that Chris had to battle on qualifying day, we were glad he was wearing top quality Vanson leathers and safety equipment, and I know a lot of other riders on the racetrack felt the same way. Vanson has been a long-time sponsor of FBM Racing and the AHDRA, and has always put quality and safety at the top of their priority list. Alan and Matt have given us good help and advice over the years, and the sport of Harley Drag Racing is better for Vanson's participation. |

There was a stiff cross-wind blowing and gusting across the track, and at the end of the grandstands the flags
were swirling in several different directions. We brought a good tune-up over from Phoenix, though, and Chris is one of the best riders
out there, so we felt confident. Chris had to fight to keep it off the center line. The bike was pulling hard though, and Chris still
had it under control. When Chris got past the grandstands a gust caught him and pushed the bike harder to the right. Chris was leaning
way out and clipped the cone at the finish line. Chris had a piece of the cone stuck in the bike when he got back to the pits which has
now become a trophy.
